I am an Eating Disorder Therapist, but you might also call me a body image promoter, fad diet assassin, and family meal mender. I help people who long to move through their eating disorder and begin their life on the other side. I want you to be able to sit down to a plate of food with confidence that your choices are nourishing and treating your body just as they should, not for your head to be filled with messages you’ve heard from your aunt on that diet or those magazines in line at the grocery store. Your body is not nearly as judgy about your food choices as your brain is and I don’t want you to be either. I’m particularly drawn to work with families, teens, and young adults because I’ve seen the impact early intervention and family system intervention can have on recovery. I went into social work because of its emphasis on systems and social justice. Whether it’s battling the injustice of cultural messages that allows an eating disorder to thrive or the system you will create for yourself through treatment, I believe these are the key to healing.
