Ellen is the owner of E.L.M. Wellness, a private practice, specializing in the nutrition treatment of eating disorders and disordered eating. Their treatment approach focuses on the Health at Every Size (HAES), Intuitive Eating, trauma-informed paradigms, and size and gender inclusivity. Clients are seen in Cary, NC and virtually.
Ellen was a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDRD) and an IAEDP Approved Supervisor and has specialized in the treatment of eating disorders since 1994. She is also certified in the Body Decoding Method and Neuro-Linguistic Programing. Ellen’s career includes working at three different treatment programs, two of which were start-ups, where she was instrumental in setting the facilities’ policies and procedures and at a residential facility in NC, where she developed a unique and effective nutrition program.
Ellen was the content advisor for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) 2012 position paper and practice paper regarding eating disorders. She is a professional speaker on the topics of eating disorders and nutrition counseling and has taught college level nutrition. Ellen is an eating disorder advocate and has worked with the media in outreach and public awareness for the prevention and treatment of eating disorders and Health at Every Size (HAES).
Ellen received her Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at Florida International University and a Master’s degree in the Science of Nutrition at Meredith College.
