McCarter-Wood, Carolyn – MDiv, LCSW, LCAS, CEDS-C

As a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist, I am deeply committed to supporting individuals who are struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, body acceptance, and trauma. I work as an integrative therapist, pulling from several modalities to support my clients in their healing. My work includes aspects of Internal Family Systems, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Embodied Recovery, and EMDR. I work from a HAES® perspective  and am in the process of certifying as a Body Trust® provider.
I base my work on the latest understandings of how the brain works.  I help my clients learn to pay attention to the many ways our nervous systems communicate– whether through emotion, sensation, words, metaphor, or movement. This requires slowing down and listening inside with curiosity, respect, and kindness.  I trust that somehow, the hard behaviors like self harm, eating disorders, or substance abuse make sense in your system and feel very much needed.
I  am honored to work with people of all sexual orientations and gender expressions. I also enjoy working with people around issues of faith and spirituality, regardless of their particular path.
